Climate change and security
Climate change is far more than just an environmental issue - it is one of the greatest security policy challenges of our time. Extreme weather events, rising temperatures and the scarcity of natural resources are already destabilizing numerous regions and exacerbating existing conflicts. Competition for vital goods such as water and food is leading to geopolitical tensions, while climate-induced migration is challenging existing social and political orders. At the same time, the global energy transition is fundamentally changing the security policy framework by redefining economic dependencies and realigning strategic interests. A coherent security policy must therefore consider climate protection and geopolitical stability together - only an integrative approach can guarantee a sustainable and resilient future for generations to come.
