Trade, connectivity, and technology in the Middle East. A region in transition.

Overview

The escalating violence in the Middle East underscores the urgent need for a transformative vision for the region. This conference aims to develop joint solutions among relevant actors to regional and global challenges, including the war in Gaza and other regional tensions.

We intend to bring together different actors from the Middle East, Asia and Germany to develop a cooperative vision that can be based on technology and the blue economy. By working together on issues such as food and energy security or climate change, the conference aims to pave the way for stability and peace in the Middle East through sustainable cooperation.

Lasting peace in the Middle East requires comprehensive dialog, creative solutions and pragmatic cooperation. Our common future depends not only on national borders or short-term conflict resolution, but on the creation of a shared, lasting regional vision. For a peaceful future, all parties must prioritize cooperation over conflict, move beyond division and embrace cooperation in our rapidly evolving interconnected world.

Goals

  • Developing a regional vision for cooperation and stability: exploring sustainable post-conflict scenarios and solutions for security and urgent humanitarian needs.

  • Improving technological cooperation: Using the participants' expertise to develop scientific and technological cooperation to overcome regional and supra-regional challenges.

  • Promotion of practical cross-border cooperation with a particular focus on the areas of trade, infrastructure, water, food and energy.

  • Bringing together key players from government, the private sector and academia.

  • Development of a pilot project in Gaza.

  • Strengthening regional and supra-regional cooperation: overcoming tensions and promoting stability.

  • Use of cutting-edge technologies: focus on AI, robotics, agricultural technology, greentech and areas of common interest between stakeholders such as the blue economy.

Results

By promoting a regional vision for cooperation, this highly topical and relevant conference aims to create a new agenda for peace and stability in the Middle East.

Through inclusive dialog and pragmatic cooperation, the people of the region can move beyond conflict to tackle key regional challenges together and strive for a more stable and prosperous future in the Middle East and beyond. True to the motto: Talking to each other instead of about each other.
